My stock images will be LOW res and water marked. If you want a high res image with no water mark you will have to note me. Give me a link to your DA account and a link to the image you want to use. WHY?? Because DA is full of RIPers and pervs. I want proof you are actually an artist that can work an image before I hand you over a full res image of one of my children. Include your email in the note.
In return for using my image I would like a link to the finished art work so I can it . I would also like a file of the work. WHY?? Because I can't afford to buy DA prints of each piece of art my children are in. BUT I am a pro photog and have a pro lab. I have one 8x10 printed of every art work my children are in and if the kids really like them I may do a large one - poster sized - for their room.
Traditional medium artists you guys can send us a scan or a photo file of the artwork. Just something for the girls to put in their album.
After I get a file I will send you a signed photo and model release that will give you full rights to use my image and the kids likeness in that piece of art.
Actually I have two greeting card companies holding some of my pet work right now for "further consideration." Which means they made it through the initial image selection person and now have to make it through the rest of the people until they get to the person who says "buy this" It's only been a month which isn't long in terms of submissions but one of the companies approached me and now they have images tied up that I planned on submitting elsewhere. I bet you weren't expecting that rant. D
I think your work is really good considering your working with a low res point and shoot. You do a great job using natural light. Your backgrounds are a little busy. If you had a DSLR you could take care of some of that with DOF. I LOVE the ones of your daughter in the mask.
Thanks very much.
Actually I AM working with a digital camera. I do forget to put the res up from time to time. And the focus on this camera is automatic (it does have a manual override - which I hate! It's really awkward to use, you have to press three buttons at once to make it work).
I wish I had the use (and expertise to use) a studio, or at least some kind of outdoor backdrops.
If I only I lived closer, i would beg to come to your house to get a few lessons. LOL
Bet you weren't expecting THAT rant
I'm very glad your work is at least on the road to being accepted. Is it very competitive?
You image info says you are using the FinePix S5000. That's only a 3.2MP camera. You need a DSLR instead of a point and shoot. The use of aperture control would really let you blur out the backgrounds. That will separate your subject from the background. Also most DSLR's are at least 8MP.
This was shot natural light, in my kitchen with white fabric from the fabric store. NO STUDIO!!! But I was using a DSLR and I usually shoot wide open so my aperture was probably about 2.8 giving me plenty of blur on that fabric and separating her from it.
I don't know how competitive the card market is. I'm only just getting started.

The butter legion- a socialist movement/mass colab project I started, to trigger artistic change and evolution in Da artists (mainly my watchers), to make them more active and dedicated on DA. Now 170 people strong and growing... A "dangerous cult"? a "new religion"? "artistic version of fight club" or "communist movement"? You decide!
